Osian Meilir is a Dance and Performance Artist looking for opportunities in the realm of contemporary dance performance, choreographing and teaching.
Originally from Pentre’r Bryn, on the west coast of Wales, Meilir went on to train at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, attaining a first-class degree, before continuing his studies and completing his M.A. in Dance Performance as part of Transitions Dance Company in 2017. His research for his masters degree investigated the effect one’s cultural background has on the way we, as contemporary dancers, approach dance, performance and the creative process.
Since graduating, Meilir has been performing as part of a children’s dance-theatre piece called ‘Penguins’,
choreographed by Carlos Pons Guerra and directed by Paul Bosco McEneaney, touring England, Ireland and the USA. He has also been working on various projects with Lizzi Kew Ross & Co, Gwyn Emberton Dance, Satore Tech, Fearghus O'Conchuir at National Dance Company of Wales and on the creation on his own solo for Arad Goch Theatre Company – Palmant / Pridd (Pavement / Pasture) along with numerous other projects.
Meilir’s very early experiences and background of Welsh folk dance has led him to appreciate dance from all different cultures, and to enjoy how dance can build meaningful bridges between people from around the world.
